UFC BJJ Announces Mikey Musumeci vs Bryce Mitchell for UFC BJJ 11
UFC BJJ released a promotional video on September 16 announcing a matchup between Mikey Musumeci and Bryce Mitchell.[1] The bout is scheduled to take place at UFC BJJ 11 on September 24.
How to Watch
UFC BJJ events are available to stream on UFC Fight Pass, the UFC’s digital streaming service.[1][2]
What to Watch
Musumeci is one of the most accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors of his generation. After competing extensively on the international scene, including a successful run in ONE Championship, he joined UFC BJJ and currently holds the promotion’s bantamweight title.
Mitchell, meanwhile, is an active UFC featherweight known for his grappling-heavy MMA style. He is also one of the few fighters in UFC history to record a finish via Twister. Outside competition, he has become known for his unconventional training on his farm and for a number of controversial comments on social media.
The matchup has already developed some tension before either man steps onto the mat.
Mitchell has criticized Musumeci’s style, particularly his willingness to pull guard and attack leg locks, describing that approach as unmanly. Musumeci responded by saying that if Mitchell feels that strongly about it, he is willing to compete without pulling guard — and that he still believes he can win.
That exchange adds an interesting stylistic layer to the matchup. Musumeci is one of the most technically sophisticated submission grapplers in the world, while Mitchell brings the physicality, wrestling background, and positional pressure of an experienced UFC fighter.
Also scheduled for the same event is a matchup between Nicky Rodriguez and Mason Fowler.
